THIS IS ACTION PACKED AND EXPERIENTIAL MEDIA TRAINING – in small groups.

Although we will train you in all the above techniques, and provide plenty of theory, background and information, this is ultimately an experiential training.  Numbers need to be low (less than 8) in order to ensure that everyone gets an opportunity to be interviewed and to practice.

Why would you need a Media Training workshop?

Speaking to the media, in formal interviews, radio & TV broadcasts takes skill and practice. At this one-day highly experiential course, we focus on getting the message across and not being side-tracked.

Our “Face the Media” training is delivered by two experienced public relations directors and ex-journalists. The session involves both theory and practical work, giving practice and assessments in media interviews.

Optional Addition – Bespoke “Face the Media” training courses.

Before the session, we will carry out background work to identify appropriate scenarios to create a challenging interview for each individual. This means that they will face questions that they might well get during a “real” interview.

Often our process to tailor the interview may mean talking to the delegate’s manager or CEO of an organisation to get a greater idea of the sorts of issues faced/likely to be faced.

If you do not require your training to be bespoke to a high degree, we will still create scenarios that are broadly resonant with delegates’ positions and fields of expertise. For this reason we request job titles and expertise information for each delegate.

Training format

This is NOT a class-room style training – it is very hands-on and delegates will be expected to have a high level of participation to get the most from it. The training is delivered in a two-part day, with the first part being more theory (though still delivered in an experiential way), and the second part including interview assessments, trying out various techniques, and pieces to camera where you can put into practice all that you have learned in the morning.

Who is this for?

  • Senior representatives of companies who may need to speak with the media
  • Support staff who may speak to the media to arrange interviews.
  • Experienced media professionals – as a reminder

This workshop is an opportunity to give employees the time, resources and information to discover their skills in media presentations, with the afternoon being a focus for delegates to create greater self-awareness of their skills and strengths.
